All good super heroes have an origin myth. Tell us the story of how PDX Super Crafty came to be.

S: Well, I met Cathy years ago at a craft sale that no one came to! We had plenty of time to talk, since it was so slow, and we've been getting together to craft ever since.

I met Rachel at a fashion show we were both designing jewelry for, and we bonded in the midst of the insanity backstage and escaped for a glass of wine.

I got to know Torie through getcrafty.com and we met in person for the first time at the very first Portland Church of Craft meeting in 2003.

We all started getting together once a month for dinner and to talk crafty stuff and business, and got the chance to write our book in 2004, which was so much fun - plenty of long nights crafting with Thai food and wine - and a lot of coffee to keep us going. Super Crafty came out in fall 2005, and we’ve been throwing pastie-making and shrink art parties ever since!

What do you hope people get from your book?
